As many residents of this state may know, in an effort to
cut back on state spending, license renewal notices are no longer sent by
the registry. If you would like to be reminded via email follow the
link above. (This is a service offered by the state, Holbrook PD
cannot assist you with signing up).

KIDNAPPING
SCAM
Attention Holbrook Residents:
Residents of our community have been targeted by a popular phone
extortion scam. In these cases
generally an unknown person(s) will call or text the victim and make
ficticious claims that a family member is being held captive and will be
harmed or held until the victim pays a specific sum of money.
It is not uncommon for the caller to know basic information about the
family member and often the call comes from a blocked number.
The suspect(s) will gain information of your relatives by the answers
you provide during the conversation.
The suspect(s) have
been calling cellular phone numbers.
In the event you receive one of these phone calls please do the
following:
1. Ask the caller
specifics where the family member is located.
2. Have the caller
physically describe the family member to see if the caller can provide some
level of detail that could help dispel or confirm the claim.
3. After gathering as
many details as possible during the call the resident should attempt to make
contact with the person that is allegedly being held captive and confirm
their safety.
4. If a text is
received the resident should first make contact with the person that is
allegedly being held captive to ensure that they are safe and if they are
unable to make contact then they should probe the individual texting to
provide specifics, as mentioned above.
NEVER provide anyone with your personal information over the phone!
In all cases note the
phone number where the call or text originated and report the incident to
the Holbrook Police Department @ 781-767-1212.
