Holbrook Police Department Recognizes SRO Appreciation Day

National School Resource Officer Day is celebrated annually on Feb. 15 to show appreciation and support for the officers who maintain the safety of our schools. SROs are a vital part of our school community, interacting and protecting our students through education and engagement.

The department would like to thank our SRO — Officer Alexander Occhipinti — who goes above and beyond for students and staff across the district.

SRO Occhipinti began his law enforcement career in May 2021 and currently serves as a School Resource Officer with the Holbrook Police Department. Prior to joining the department, he served four years on active duty in the United States Marine Corps and worked nearly two years in corrections.

Officer Occhipinti values his role in the schools and the opportunity it provides to build relationships with and mentor young people. He works to be a positive, approachable and trusted presence for students and staff, and takes pride in helping create a safe and welcoming environment for everyone in the school community. The National Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO) has recognized Feb. 15 as National SRO Day since 2022 to highlight the work these officers do to bridge the gap between law enforcement and youth and maintain school safety.
