Registration Open for Holbrook Police Department’s 2023 Junior Police Academy

HOLBROOK — Chief William Smith and Community Outreach Officer Michael Szczesny are pleased to share that registration is now open for the Junior Police Academy.

The Academy will run July 24-28 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day at Holbrook Middle High School, 245 South Franklin St.

Registration will be first come, first served for students entering fifth and sixth grade. The Academy will be limited to the first 30 students to submit an application. Completed applications can be dropped off at the Holbrook Police Station with attention to Officer Michael Szczesny. Registration will close on May 21.

Attendees will take part in classroom sessions, see demonstrations by police officers from various areas of law enforcement, learn drug awareness and first responder skills, as well as take part in physical training sessions and field trips.

“We look forward to hosting the Junior Police Academy every summer,” said Chief Smith. “The program is designed to provide these students an opportunity to learn about law enforcement, develop leadership skills and build positive relationships with their peers and our officers.”

The cost to participate in the program is $100, payable by check. The fee covers operating costs, a student uniform and a water bottle.
